Policing Ilford
Ilford is changing, this new era has begun with a return to old-fashioned policing
- the creation of the Ilford Town Police Team.
The dedicated professionals of the Metropolitan Police Service are welcome additions
to Team Ilford and the high visibility policing they bring to the town will greatly
enhance your shopping experience. The aim of the Ilford Town Team is to provide
a visible Police presence ensuring the area remains a safe place to visit. Sergeant
Seamus Hansford is our new team supervisor and his team is made up of three Police
Constables.
Sergeant Hansford and his team will provide a friendly face, offering reassurance
to those using the town centres facilities. Monthly Police "surgeries" will be held
in prominent locations where the public will have an opportunity to discuss issues,
ask advice, or just drop in for a chat. These meetings will be advertised via a
monthly newsletter which will be available in the stores or on-line. Being present
at the busiest shopping times means they will be on-hand to deal swiftly with those
who are intent on crime and anti-social behaviour.
“I am confident that a dedicated team working in positive partnership will enhance
the experience of all within the Town Centre area.” Inspector David Brewster, Redbridge
Borough Police.
Team Ilford is an operational partnership between the London Borough of Redbridge,
the Ilford Business Improvement District and now the Metropolitan Police Service
tasked with making real positive changes in Ilford. Some of the key people in Team
Ilford are;
Inspector David Brewster has served in the Metropolitan Police service for over
17 years working in areas such as Tottenham and Hackney before moving to Ilford.
Sergeant Seamus Hansford has served in the Metropolitan Police Service for 15 years
and has come to Ilford from Westminster.
