Acts keep ilford entertained in run up to christmas
Ilford Town Centre will be hosting a variety of entertaining acts on the Saturdays leading up to Christmas, including street performers, singers and musicians.
Steve Brookstein, who shot to fame in 2004 as the first winner of The X Factor, will get the festivities off to a swinging start on November 20th, when he will perform a number of songs, including his new track which is being released to raise money for SHELTER, the housing and homelessness charity. He will be performing from 12 noon on the Town Hall steps where goodie bags will be given out to children in the audience together with free copies of his new CD.
On Saturday 4th December adults and children alike are invited to indulge in a little racing as Ilford Town Centre puts on a pedal go-kart rink, with different sized go-karts to suit speed-freaks of all ages. Inflatable barriers will ensure safety at the rink, which will be situated in the pedestrianised area by Harrison & Gibson and Waterstones. Amongst the crowds will be a face painter and a balloon modeller to keep the children happy and a stall offering candy floss and popcorn.
Raising a giggle will be duo, Slap and Tickle, who will be juggling, and performing a variety of tricks for the audience’s entertainment in the pedestrianised area on both the 27th November and the 18th December between 12 noon and 3pm.
Ryan Green, a hugely talented 13 year old singer/keyboard player and a member of the Green Fair Music Club who also appeared at this year’s Redbridge Mid-Summer Music Festival, will be performing in the Food Area of the Mall on 11th December. Ryan will be drawing the crowds between 12 noon and 3pm, with his fantastic cover versions of popular tracks from modern bands such as Kings of Leon, Coldplay and The Script.
Ilford is also welcoming back Belle Canto, the popular female singing duo on the 11th December. Performing between 11am and 3pm in the pedestrianised area, Belle Canto will deliver their unique combination of operatic and musical melodies.
“We have so much entertainment in the run up to Christmas and there is really something for everyone,” says Neil Davis, Town Centre Manager. “We have great singers, and entertainers who will give shoppers and visitors a memorable experience. It should really create a great festive spirit.”
