Redbridge Safer Communities Awards

Ilford BID recognised in Redbridge Safer Communities Awards

The management team behind Ilford Business Improvement District has been honoured in the Redbridge Safer Communities Awards by winning the Business Award for its efforts to improve safety in Ilford Town Centre.

Announced at a ceremony last week, the award recognises the investment that the BID team has made in street improvements and its work with the Police and Council to establish a dedicated policing team for the area.

Now in its third year, the Safer Communities Awards honour local heroes who work to reduce crime and improve safety in the neighbourhood. It is organised through a partnership involving Redbridge Council, the police, the fire service, probation service and members of the voluntary sector.

Neil Davis, Ilford Town Centre Manager, received the award from Cllr Jim O’Shea, the Mayor of Redbridge, at a ceremony last Thursday. He said: “One of our top priorities in Ilford is to implement and oversee initiatives to improve safety in the town centre. So it is particularly gratifying to not only be nominated for this award, but to actually win it, and have our efforts acknowledged. It is thanks to the cooperation of the Police and the Council that we have been able to improve safety standards, but this is an on-going process and there is plenty more for us to do.”

Another initiative in which Ilford Town is involved, Redbridge Business Against Crime Partnership (RedBAC), has also been recognised with an award. RedBAC (Incorporating Ilford Town Against Crime) has received a Safer Business Award from the Association of Business Crime Partnerships, and this nationally recognised standard acknowledges the high quality of work that is being carried out by the organisation.
